A seed phrase is a set of 12 or 24 words that serves as the master backup for a cryptocurrency wallet. Anyone with your seed phrase has full control of your funds — it must never be shared or stored digitally.

A seed phrase (also called recovery phrase or mnemonic phrase) is a human-readable representation of your wallet's master private key. It's typically 12 or 24 words generated when you create a new wallet.

Example format: "abandon ability able about above absent absorb abstract absurd abuse access accident"

Your seed phrase can: - Recover your wallet if your device is lost or damaged - Import your wallet into a different wallet application - Access ALL accounts and tokens controlled by that wallet

Critical security rules: 1. NEVER share your seed phrase with anyone — no legitimate service will ever ask for it 2. NEVER store it digitally (no photos, no cloud storage, no email) 3. Write it down on paper or stamp it into metal 4. Store copies in separate secure locations (safety deposit box, fireproof safe) 5. Anyone who has your seed phrase has complete control of your funds

Common scams: fake "support" agents asking for your seed phrase, phishing sites prompting seed phrase entry, fake wallet apps that capture your words.

If you suspect your seed phrase has been compromised, immediately transfer all funds to a new wallet with a new seed phrase.
